El Ouazzania Moroccan Olive Oil
Virgin olive oil may hold the secret to longevity. Today, the impressive properties of pressed olive oil are widely known in the field of health, but also by the general public. Before 1958, this “good fat” with a unique taste remained the well-kept secret of the Mediterranean people.
Virgin olive oil contributes to the prevention of heart disease, stroke and dementia, as well as breast, respiratory and upper digestive tract cancers. Studies show that it may even reduce the risk of osteoporosis and diabetes.
Olive oil is a “good fat”
A diet high in saturated fats such as fatty meats and butter is known to increase the production of bad (LDL) cholesterol and the risk of heart disease. Conversely, a diet based on olive oil and fruits and vegetables protects the heart and arteries. Olive oil also promotes a healthy diet.
How to enjoy the benefits of virgin olive oil
Try to consume one or two tablespoons (15 to 20ml) of olive oil every day.
Use extra-virgin olive oil: it contains higher levels of healthy and anti-inflammatory polyphenols.
Drizzle the oil over your vegetables or salads, or simply dip a piece of bread in it. But think carefully before using it for cooking: heat destroys 5 to 30% of polyphenols, according to the American Institute for Cancer Research.
